Women in Transition

Confidentiality & Group Agreement

Women in Transition is intended to be a safe, respectful space where women can share openly, reflect, connect and support one another through periods of change.

Because personal experiences and emotions may be shared within the group, confidentiality is an important part of creating that safety.

1.What is shared in the group stays in the group

I agree to respect the privacy of other participants and will not share, repeat, screenshot, record, photograph or otherwise distribute anything another participant shares during the group.

This includes personal stories, experiences, opinions, emotions, relationships, family circumstances and any other identifying information.

2.I will not identify other participants outside the group

I agree not to disclose who is participating in Women in Transition or discuss another participant's personal circumstances with people outside the group.

If I happen to know another participant outside the group, I will still respect their privacy and will not assume that they are comfortable discussing the group or what they have shared.

3.No recording or photography

Participants may not audio-record, video-record, photograph or screenshot group sessions or other participants without the explicit consent of everyone involved.

4.Social media

I will not post about another participant, tag them, mention their participation in the group, or share photographs or content from the group on social media without their explicit permission.

I understand that even when names are not used, sharing enough details may still identify someone, so I will exercise discretion.

5.Respect and personal responsibility

I agree to listen without judgement, respect different perspectives and experiences, and allow others the space to speak.

I understand that Women in Transition is a group space, not a place to diagnose, advise, fix or provide professional treatment to other participants.

I will speak from my own experience and respect each woman's right to decide what is right for her.

6.Confidentiality has limits

While every effort will be made to maintain confidentiality, no group setting can guarantee absolute confidentiality because participants are responsible for their own actions outside the group.

There may also be circumstances where confidentiality cannot be maintained, particularly where there is a serious and immediate concern about someone's safety or the safety of another person, or where disclosure is required by law.

If such a situation arises, the facilitator will seek to handle it with sensitivity and disclose only information that is reasonably necessary.

7.The facilitator

The facilitator will make reasonable efforts to create and maintain a safe and confidential environment and will treat information shared within the group with care and discretion.

However, Women in Transition is a group wellbeing and personal-development space and is not a substitute for individual psychological or medical treatment.

If a participant requires support beyond the scope of the group, the facilitator may recommend seeking appropriate professional help.

8.My agreement

By participating in Women in Transition, I confirm that I have read and understood this agreement and agree to respect the privacy, dignity and personal boundaries of the other women in the group.

I understand that maintaining confidentiality is a shared responsibility and that the safety of the group depends on each participant doing their part.
